Fishing

Gippsland Dawn recognises the significance of the fishing industry to Gippsland and Victoria, as one of the largest fishing operations in the country.

Gippsland Dawn is committed to working with maritime users to understand how they use the area and any potential impacts of the project. The project team will engage with maritime users and the fishing community before works commence. A Notice to Mariners will be provided to fishers to advise of any upcoming proposed works, including survey locations, timing and duration of activities. Feedback from commercial and recreational fishers is welcome via email: info@gippslanddawn.com.au.

In 2025 Gippsland Dawn will be conducting a range of marine surveys and investigations to inform the project design and approvals process. We are committed to working with the fishing industry to understand their operations and needs so we can successfully co-exist.

First Nations

Gippsland Dawn recognises the Gunaikurnai people as the Traditional Custodians of the area of our proposed project.

Understanding Sea Country and the enduring connection of First Nations People to the sea, land, and sky is essential to the development of this project. The stories of First Nations peoples are written in the songlines across the land, in the sky and reflected in the waterways.

The project team will continue to work in partnership with the Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation (GLaWAC), who represent the Gunaikurnai people.

Youth Panel

Young people will be at the heart of engagement for Gippsland Dawn.

They will be the workforce of the future construction, maintenance and ongoing management of offshore wind projects.

Gippsland Dawn will create a youth panel for young people between the ages of 15 to 24 from across the region to come together to provide feedback on key matters affecting the community, like community benefits.

We want to give young people in Gippsland, especially those closest to the project area in the Wellington and East Gippsland shires, an opportunity to be in the conversation with us.

We are currently planning for a youth panel. A launch date is yet to be announced.
